CBAM

What does CBAM mean?

CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism) is the EU's carbon border mechanism. EU regulation requires importers within its scope to report the emissions embedded in the production of certain goods imported from outside the EU.

It is a regulatory obligation, not a voluntary sustainability report. The obligation does not apply to every importer.

The definitive phase of CBAM began on 1 January 2026. Collect import and emissions data throughout the year so it is ready for the annual declaration.

Product

What can you do with the CBAM tool?

Built for preparing the annual declaration. The tool prepares the declaration data — you submit the declaration to the EU CBAM registry yourself.

Imports

Import register and data import

  • The import register stores CN codes, net mass, countries of origin, import dates and customs references.
  • Import data from a CSV or Excel file and map the columns to the right fields. The AI assistant helps clean up the data.
  • A checklist shows which data is still missing. The interface and CN code search work in English and Finnish.

Emissions

Emissions, threshold and certificates

  • Calculate emissions and certificate need using actual emissions data or default values. The calculation accounts for the phase-out of free allocation.
  • Track the 50-tonne annual threshold for the goods it applies to. Compare the CBAM certificates you hold with the forecast need.
  • Send suppliers an invitation link to provide emissions data — no supplier account needed. You review and approve the data yourself and attach it to the right import batch.

Reports

Annual declaration preparation and traceability

  • Prepare the annual declaration data and export it as XML or ZIP for submission to the EU CBAM registry. You submit the declaration to the registry yourself.
  • The change history shows who changed what. Attach documents to an import batch.
  • Manage several companies with one user account — for example an accounting firm's clients.
